Mary Roper is a 21-year-old formerly the nursemaid in the household of an aristocratic family. She tired of dodging the unwanted advances of her employer, and she's staying with her brother Harry (emerging underworld boss and pimp)while trying to find some alternate means of employment, preferably as an actress.

♥ the stories we forget

Mary's good at acting. She can pretend almost anything, and if you go far enough the make-believe can be just real enough to save you. She should know. It lets you forget, too. Stories can take up the places of things that never happened so that you don't have to see them anymore...

♥ the world was never a pretty place

Mary's world fell apart when she was six, and she woke up in a nightmare. She learned that to escape one nightmare, you have to find another one. Harry's nemesis Slater was the one to save her. She wonders what will happen when her brother learns everything...
